PonyABC Desktop

PonyABC Desktop is the free companion app for the PonyABC P5 pen. It puts new books on your pen, keeps your child's recordings safe and updates the pen — without any technical know-how.

Get PonyABC Desktop free from the Microsoft Store (Windows). Mac users: please email marketing@ponyabc.co.uk.

Before you start

Connect the pen with a USB data cable (many cables only charge). The Home screen says "P5 pen connected"; if not, try another cable or socket and click Rescan.

1. Add books to your pen

Open BOOK Library and click Sync books. There's nothing to choose and nothing can be deleted by accident. The app checks space first and tells you how long it will take — a large book can take about 20 minutes. When it says All done!, unplug the pen and switch it off and on.

2. Keep your child's recordings safe

Open My Recordings and click Back up my recordings. Put them back any time with Put these back on my pen — if a sticker already has a recording, you can listen to both and choose. You can rename recordings or move them to another sticker number. Teachers can copy the same recordings to every pen.

3. Update the pen (Windows)

Open Firmware and follow the steps. Choose Yes when Windows asks, don't unplug the pen, and switch it off and on when it's finished.

Languages

English, 繁體中文, 简体中文, Español, Français, Deutsch, Italiano and Português (Settings → Interface Language). Nothing is uploaded: books and recordings go straight between your pen and your computer.
